Our heart goes out in sympathy to the victims of the inferno that occurred in Onitsha yesterday. May
God give you the fortitude to bear this painful loss with strength and hope at this difficult moment. Like a pillar of support, we stand by you to ameliorate your sufferings.
While we acknowledge that the accident may be beyond our power, we are also aware that the inferno was very avoidable if the state government had equipped Onitsha and other cities in the state with basic social amenities/public infrastructure like fire service trucks. It is very sad that no fire service trucks were at the sites of this havoc to quench the fire before it could spread out. Best practices of Health, Safety and Environmental management culture would have prevented such unfortunate incident to which innocent citizens of Anambra State are daily exposed.
We call upon the government, the good people of Anambra State and our country Nigeria to come to the aid of traumatized victims and residents of Onitsha at this critical period.
Once again, our prayers are with you on this painful and unfortunate incident. With us, you are not alone in this.
